Wet Mop Facts
YARN

Specific yarns accomplish specific tasks. That is why there are so many types and sizes of mops. To obtain optimum efficiency and value from a wet mop it is important to select the right yarn for the job.

Cotton
• Cotton has a hollow cell structure for maximum absorption.

• Fibers are shorter and have lower tensile strength than synthetic fibers.

• Natural fiber requires a break-in period. All new mops should be hand washed in warm soapy water and rinsed in cold water to remove natural oils that can inhibit absorption.

• Cotton mops can be laundered on a limited basis.

Rayon
• No break-in required. Maximum absorption at first use.

• Clean and fresh appearance.

• Prone to continuous shrinkage when exposed to excessive heat.

• Faster absorption rate as compared to cotton yarns.

• Lower wipe dry performance as compared to cotton yarns.

• Low linting properties, ideal for applying floor finish.

Blends
• Absorption performance of moisture hungry rayon and cotton fiber combined with abrasion resistance and strength of acrylic and polyester fiber.

• Synthetic fibers add durability and color and fight bacteria.

• The professional choice for launderability and longevity.

  Non-Woven (DuPont Sontara®)
• Very economical with no break-in period.

• Better particle pick-up.

• Better floor drying, ideal for mopping high traffic areas.

• Easy to clean and low to non linting.

• Lighter, fast drying promotes resistance to bacteria.
